Barcamp Mumbai on its way!

Hey Guys.... This Rudra reporting from Barcamp Mumbai KReSIT IIT-BOmbay... First session of the day is on and it is about SMS applications of FOSS (Free and Open Source Software)... It looks interesting and geeks as usual are here asking about a lot of things. I have not had a chance to listen to this lecture from the begining as I was busy trying to get my Laptop working :-P.....

Rest Coming soon....

Update:

Efforts to take IT to Rural - Two models explained. Both were adhoc sessions and were inforative. One talked about a IP over Postman model. The other explained HP's ICommunity project.

Independant Indian Music - These guys run the infynity Radio, they released a small piece here at you can check them up at http://infinityradio.info ... They say that "Here is you avenue to listen to good music." They later took questions from the audience...

Update 2:

Prof. Dr. D. B. Pathak, speaking about IIT-B's "Eklavya" Projects that brings Teachers and students from across the country on one platform and co-ordinates the project effort. His speech is amazing, he is talking about how to get the properitory stuff and free stuff on one board; He feels this is the only way India can go ahead. He also is telling about Affordable Solutions Lab.

LUNCH!!!! Awesome food met one of the organisers. had nice chat with him.

Sorry guys I missed one session due to amazing food. Then came in for a talk in my ealier base camp Chat and Chutney....

The session about to start was on Tag Surfer. it was informative but looked to more of Google's rework. Tags to me are same if done by Humans who read it or Machine that scans it, as both have a fixed set of words under which the catagorize the content. But, people (knowlegable, if I may call them!) did not agree... anyway discussion went a little hay-wire with people commenting about the percetage based tagging.

Right now a session by Tarique Saini on "Your Pictures on Your Site". It was a description of "Koppermine" and "PixelPost" FOSS products. If Tarique Releases the slides it will be better than me writing about it. Over all a good session I would say, despite of the fact that many of the audiences are not listening with keen interest.

Hi frm TagSurfer :d

Well... Google's rework ... no, no no... not even remotely. Actually it was more like extending a 'TagCloud' and I guess TagClouds were not invented by Google. (..though Tagcloud.com was derived from the wrk of a Yahooligan.)

Jst uploaded this post(hope its makes things clearer):
